1) Golden Temple, Amritsar
The holiest of all Sikh temples is this gorgeous temple, which sits in the middle of a small, sacred lake. 3) Meenakshi Temple, Madurai
The current, majestic form of the Meenakshi Temple dates from the 12-13th century, but it has been a centre of prayer for much longer. This huge temple is devoted to Goddess Meenakshi, an avatar of Goddess Parvati, and is located in the heart of Madurai.
Its vast corridors are often crowded with worshippers and the three-story gopuram or entry tower is especially noteworthy.
4) Virupaksha Temple, Hampi
This well-known temple is located in Hampi, Karnataka is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple, which dates from the 7th century, is devoted to Lord Virupaksha, Lord Shiva’s avatar.
The temple’s nine-story gopuram is one of its most notable features; rich in history and surrounded by ancient treasures, this temple is the crown jewel in one of India’s most important historical crowns.
5) Lotus Temple, Delhi
The Lotus Temple is also known as the Bahai House of Worship or Bahai Mashriqul-Adhkar Temple and is located in New Delhi. This temple, which was created in the shape of a lotus flower is an architectural marvel with 27 marble petals forming the Lotus shape of the structure.
The Lotus Temple accepts worshipers of all religions since the Bahai faith believes in the “Oneness of God, the Oneness of Religions, and the Oneness of Mankind.”
