How many of us have designed our travel itineraries to take us to the greenest, most picturesque locations? Many of us have done that, and it’s beneficial that we do so. It demonstrates that humans still have a connection to and desire for nature. There is a lot of greenery wherever we go, whether it is to the hills or the villages. But how about urban areas?

The majority of us reside in concrete jungles where all we ever see is highrises and a sea of people and cars throughout the course of a day. At that point, we want a break. Some large cities in India have done a fantastic job of being ecologically friendly since they were built with this in mind.

Here’s a list of Indian cities with the most greenery.

1. Karnataka’s Mysore

Mysore is without a doubt the greenest city in all of India. In addition, Mysore is one of the best-planned towns in the nation, with many public parks, tree-lined avenues, waterfalls, and lakes. Mysore city is renowned for having effective sewage and drainage infrastructure.

2. Bangalore, India

It is true that trees may be found in Bengaluru almost anywhere. Even while the city may have some of the worst traffic in the nation, on the plus side, you have the companionship of the tree-lined avenues. One of the most stunning urban parks in India is Cubbon Park in Bengaluru.

3. Maharashtra, Mumbai

Mumbai, one of the world’s most populous cities, was named the 2021 Tree City of the World earlier this year by the Arbor Day Foundation and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Mumbai and Hyderabad both received this honor.

4. Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur

Despite being one of India’s most industrialized towns and known as the “Steel City,” Jamshedpur is unexpectedly quite green because of its founder Jamsetji Tata’s desire for a green city. Additionally, it is one of India’s cleanest cities. Studies show that 33% of the city’s entire land area is covered with vegetation.

5. Hyderabad, Telangana

Hyderabad was named the “2020 Tree City of the World” in 2021 by the Arbor Day Foundation and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. Once again, Mumbai and Hyderabad are tied for the title of “2021 Tree City of the World.” Hyderabad’s efforts to preserve its urban woods have earned it this honor.
