Is the book “The Secret” overrated?

The secret is the best selling book written by Rhonda Byrne. It basically talks about the law of attraction. This book has been translated to 50 languages and has sold almost 30 million copies.

What does Rhonda Byrne want to convey through ‘The Secret’?

– This book is based on the law of attraction. According to the book, the entire system of creation depends upon the never-failing law of attraction. The secret tells us that the law of attraction was never been told to us, it is such an important fact of life yet not known to many.

– Rhonda Byrne states that if you focus on what you want you’ll attract it towards you and if you focus on what you don’t want you’ll attract that too. So always focus on the positives and ignore the negatives. If you think good you will attract good and vice versa.

– According to her, everything begins with a thought. Everything you do is first a thought and then the action. Everything we see around us like an aeroplane, mobile phones etc. Were all first the thought. So if you want to achieve something first start thinking about it.

Basically, Rhonda Byrne wants to say that we are the centre of the universe and everything around us happens according to our thoughts. She mainly focuses on the law of attraction and how it decides our fate.

Why is the book often called cliché?

Many people absolutely hate the concept of law of attraction, they find it too cliché to be true. The idea that I am the centre of the universe and everything happens to me according to my thoughts often attracts selfishness. It is like the same old books with the same old concepts of how to be successful and how to lead a positive life. Though other books are clear about their views, Rhonda Byrne seems to be writing really silly quotes and misplaced clichés. The views she has shared and wants readers to follow are quite impractical for a human being. It’s impossible for any human to constantly think positive and keep on visualising and be grateful. Doing this for a short period of time is ok but in the long run, it can only ruin the person. As there is no happiness if you keep on thinking about yourself and if people start thinking they are the centre of the universe it will be a really, really bad world to live.

Is the book overrated?

Yes, the book is overrated. You must read the book but should not make it a way of living. There are many points that are required to live in a community that are not mentioned in the book. The book is like that of a glamourous world that shows you the merrier picture and buries all the terrible secrets. To a certain extent, yes the book can help you change the way you think but you can’t completely change your way of living and become a self-centric person. Also, you don’t get things just by thinking about them, you also need to work hard for it due to such reasons “The secret “ is considered overrated.
