We often come across the term addiction, but what is addiction? Addiction is too excess of everything. Addiction goes beyond the level of “liking” someone or something. Addiction is more of an “obsession” for something be it negative or positive. Addiction makes a person’s life extremely dependent, obsessed, possessive over the source that triggers their “addictive response”.
A thing becomes harmful when a person is addicted to it. For instance: consumption of alcohol becomes problematic when you are “addicted” to it, you consume it to an extent that it would damage your system entirely, even after knowing that “too much alcohol” can lead you into alcohol abuse.
Oftentimes people give up on the fact that recovery from addiction lacks possibilities. We tend to look at addiction as a “weakness”, and there’s where the problem lies, we shouldn’t look at addiction as a weakness, we should look at it from a very logical point of view, we should believe in ourselves and think that “nothing in this world can establish power over my well being, it’s me who has a full access and power over my self”, and real strength lies in getting rid of the negative (addiction from my life).
When we seek help and make our minds towards freeing ourselves of all the addiction that we are a part of, there is where the real strength lies. Recovery takes strength because we are fighting against those urges which once held power over us, we are trying to throw them out of our bodies and take possession of ourselves. When you finally make yourself free from the addiction, one fine day you will sit back and think that all that fight was worth it.
