Special Gujarati Dishes For Winter You Must Try

When wintertime approaches, our seniors get to work and prepare some delicious, healthful, and delectable meals for us. These popular dishes boost strength and assist us to cope with the cold and dry weather.

This occurs in every region of India. Gujarati Indians consume a lot of heavy dishes in the cold months themselves toasty. Dishes cooked with jaggery, barley, millets, and other grains are among them. Gujarati cuisine has a sweet and sour flavor profile. This is because these foods are weighty and take a long time to digest, providing us with a sense of inner warmth.

1. Surti Ponkh

Surti Ponkh is a popular winter dish in Gujarat. Farm owners growing jowar or white grain in Gujarat maintain a close eye on their plants over the winter to spot that specific stage when the seeds are luscious and soft! Ponkh Chila is a modern take on an original recipe.

2. Khandvi

Khandvi, also known as Patuli or Dahivadi, is a popular Gujarati treat made from flour. In Maharashtrian food culture, khandvi is a common delicacy. With coconut, mustard seeds, and curry leaves, this rolling, colorful snack is a treat to offer with tea in the winter season.

3. Undhiyu

Undhiyu, the monarch of Gujarati food, is a particular wintertime treat produced from the finest pure vegetables accessible during the winter months. Eggplant, crunchy fried flour and fenugreek dumplings, potato, kand, chickpeas, raw banana, and papdi are among the key ingredients, which are combined together with heat-generating seasonings. This staple food is essentially a Gujarati Potluck, except healthier and more delicious.

4. Bajra/jowar rotlo

Originally a farmer’s diet, bajra/jowar rotlo is popular in Gujarat and Rajasthan throughout the winter season. These rotis are nutrient-dense while yet being easy on the stomach. Bajra flour is also saved for the winter months due to its high heat content.

5. Gundar pak

Gujaratis and butter are inextricably linked, and wintertime is the ideal season to deepen this delectable bond. Gundar, which is made up of yellowish transparent particles of consumable gum produced from bark of trees, offers much-needed heat to the system and aids in the battle against winter cold, thus boosting the body ’s immune system. Have a bit for breakfast with a cup of milk or have it in your bag as a treat.
