You won’t find really popular dishes like som tum or pad Thai on the list of Asia’s Best Street Food, but rather less well-known dishes like our famed omelet or even northeastern-style sausage. Although it’s extremely specialized, we’re quite pleased.
The list includes a large number of nations and may be of interest to foodies and ardent travelers. Have you ever had Asam laksa in Malaysia, for instance? In Bhutan, Ema datshi? How does falooda fare in Pakistan? Or, in Bangladesh, Fuchka?
Given the number of nations included, the list is also comprehensive, with a separate page dedicated to the Middle East and Central Asia, two regions that are also considered to be in Asia.
All of this is done to calm our fury about the meager selection of arbitrary Thai foods on the menu.
1. Crab omelets are the first item mentioned (the list is alphabetical). Although they make no mention of Jay Fai, the most well-known Michelin-starred street food chef, we believe that it was his work that brought attention to the meal that we have been enjoying for a while.
2. Then there is the recently well-known khao soi. We can understand the adoration for this meal, which has long been a favorite of both residents and tourists alike in the north.
3.Sai krok Isan is the third and final course. This northeastern pork sausage, which is sometimes stuffed with sticky rice or noodles, is well-known for its sour and garlicky flavor.
