Why Do People Commit Suicide?

The reality is that we rarely know why somebody decides to take their own lives. Suicide always takes someone’s life and leaves behind unanswered questions.

People who have attempted suicide and survived tend to repeat certain patterns as to why they attempted suicide. Others have probably committed suicide for the same reasons.

The reasons for their loved ones’ suicide become essential to those left behind as a way of coping with their loss. It’s crucial to remember, though, that we’ll never completely know what drove someone to commit suicide; what counts is that the survivor is not to blame. Suicide isn’t logical, makes no sense, and knowing the reasons won’t change that. Acceptance, forgiveness, and progress are the most important things.

Here are some reasons why people commit suicide

1. They feel the world would be a better place without them

Suicidal persons frequently believe, mistakenly, that without them, everyone and the world would be a better place. These individuals commit suicide because they believe they are a burden or have a bad impact on others.

2. They want to end their pain

People who commit suicide are frequently in excruciating pain, either as a result of mental diseases such as depression or as a result of dreadful life circumstances.

Extreme anxiety/panic attacks, despair, the recent loss of a close personal relationship, chronic or deteriorating sickness, recent diagnosis of a life-threatening illness, and other things may contribute to their suffering.

Suicidal people find the suffering too much to bear, and they commit themselves as a result.

3. Substances abuse

While people may not commit suicide due to substance misuse, it is strongly linked to suicide, most likely because it reduces the inhibitions that prevent people from killing themselves.

4. Hopelessness

People commit suicide, according to reports, because they don’t see anything improving in the future and feel powerless to create a positive difference.

5. Illness of the Mind

While not every suicide victim has a diagnosable mental disease, the majority do. Mental illness can cause suffering or even induce a delusional state in which a person believes he or she is being forced to commit suicide by an unknown force.
